    @rrr: Well, they know eachother, and are on neutral grounds, for now, but the Union Corporate Powers (a private, Union-based organization) has rooted itself in both entities, and does instill the Unions more-so superficial likeness upon certain parts of the Imperium's territories.

    Maybe, the Imperium and Union Discover a mineral rich planet, both begin expanding and mining and discover eachother and come to a developmental halt when they see eachother?
