When the Chariot of Dredd landed down upon the Daxus region of Tiarrus, it was surrounded seas of trees and grass. Now, the Chariot itself is swarmed by urban sprawl that crawls outwards until it falls to decay and poverty.

are there any cities in the Dredd Imperium larger tha the main city of Imperatus? I am assuming that imperatus is smaller than many as to preserve it's historical/ sacred status.

@rune: Indeed, though vastly slower than common practice. @T.N.P: Similar, Terra-Rollers, essentially monolithic, steam-roller like monstrosities of metal which crush and pave entire sections of continents, including mountains and cities, and refine them all in one process, and in some cases can instantaneously produce legions of new starships from the harvested material. They're useful during combat and for subduing worlds. @rrr: thanks!

@the_new_powder: I'd like to think they take a planet, then enslave the surviving population to work in slave mines.

Worlds deemed for Bulk Mining are either stripped layer by layer or cracked into dozens of chunks, depending on the stability of the planet and it's size. Tiarrus is undergoing a slowed version of the 'Chunk Mining' procedure, which will eventually at some point in the distant future render it unstable and it will be evacuated, and potentially turned to facility where the most Heinous of individuals are sent to die.

Hmm.. maybe.. However you're assuming that the empire itself is friendly. Perhaps they could be war-hungry, making this a privatized mining operation.
