When the Chariot of Dredd landed down upon the Daxus region of Tiarrus, it was surrounded seas of trees and grass. Now, the Chariot itself is swarmed by urban sprawl that crawls outwards until it falls to decay and poverty.

Actually, after analysing what you said already, the planet would have days ranging from 1 rotation to 1/6 of a year. Depending on where it is in it's orbit.

How long would a day and year be on this planet?

Tethers can be used to ship large resource loads up into orbit, and Tiarrus XII is more of a (smaller) planet, so thusly this particular colony in the equatorial regions as required for a tether. Though there are an inumerable amount of mines about it's surface, this location was settled to provide residence for workers and others wishing to seek out opportunity on this frontier.

@runemaster then why is there an orbital tether? Those are sertainly only used for long term investments.

You never cease to amaze me. One rogue proton heading in the wrong direction = big boom which wipes out most of the colony.

@UnknownKarma: Most likely the gravity on this planet would be similar to the moon, considering it's a colony and not a planet with life on it from the beginning. Looking at the surface this is probably a mining colony, and with the shape of the buildings it's been built quickly. Mostly what makes me think this is the spaceships, definitely too large for civilian transport and not enough fire-power to be military.
