It is actually 2 stages, if they both lit at the same time it'd be a 1.5 stage rocket, a soviet launch stage once used a 1.5 stage launch system, this is that but technically 2 stage since the boosters stop firing before the center sone lights.

no, they are 2 stages, the first 1 just burns really fast and is on the side to save space(hah, gett it? space?)

It's not really 2 stage, it's just 1 stage with boosters

but a delay betwen the second stage ending and seperatign, theres still pressure in it that can be used up
