Best known for its major eruption in AD 79, Vesuvius is a stratovolcano located in the Naples Bay, Italy, being one of the world's most dangerous volcanoes due to more than 3.5 million people living in its hazard zone. It became a national park in 1995.

It would be better if you increase the amount of BCOL in the exploson, to simulate the "flying debris on fire".

In reality I took about 10 hours to bury pompeii. the people were not trapped by falling debris. they were killed in a pyrocaustic flow which happenes fast. then they were buried by ash and pumice over the next 10-12 hours. there bodies eventually decayed leaving the empty voids which were filled with concrete or plaster by archeologists. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/11/101102/pompeii-mount-vesuvius-science-died-instantly-heat-bodies/
