Best known for its major eruption in AD 79, Vesuvius is a stratovolcano located in the Naples Bay, Italy, being one of the world's most dangerous volcanoes due to more than 3.5 million people living in its hazard zone. It became a national park in 1995.

Naples was never struck by Vesuvius, it should be Herculaneum on the other side
