We are the SFPI, we are searching for mechanical life that can detect danger and think. essentialy basic AI. Our end goal is to make one that can replicate and change, so it will """evolve"""

This would be pretty hard to implement properly though, both due to space limitations and the challenge of building a 'mutation device' which has at least a slight chance of causing non-destructive changes. I might have a try later, unless somebody cleverer than me does it first!

When one of the bots reaches a set destination, it gets DRAY'ed to a holding area, then all the original bots get CRAY-deleted and the 'winning' variant (the first one to the finish) gets DRAY'ed into every corral, allowing the cycle to repeat and new 'mutations' to be tested. Basically it's a physical (well, virtual-physical) model of a genetic algorithm, where the most successful 'species' is used as the base for the next set of experiments.

You need something MUCH more sophisticated than just WARP and electronic components. Something like: start with one working PSTN robot, copied several times into separate 'corrals'. Add some mechanism which can make SMALL random changes to each copy (maybe a randomly-altered DRAY setup).

The problem seems to be that it often tries to move in more than one way at the same time, leaving the extended bits behind.
