    @IoCalisto By that logic, any cube drawing or any art is not 3D. I agree, but most people would still use the term 3D. It's all semantics :D

    @Technomancer To clarify, you might just say it's a 4th spatial dimension. I hate it when people just arbitrarily say that time is the 4th dimension, without letting you clarify first.

    A reason why people often assume that time is the fourth dimension, is that they either are not aware that there are (thought to be) multiple other spatial dimensions, or that they picked up the expression from popular media and wrongly assumed that they then knew what they were talking about...

    Duration would represent a distance along the axis of the T dimension, but for simplicity's sake it is essentially the same thing as time. But once again, there is no reason WHY time should be specifically the 4th dimension. It was just the fourth one to be identified. It's like saying that the Sun is the first star - it's not, but it was just the first one that we noticed.

    It's true that we can only directly perceive three spatial dimensions, however others can be represented in other ways to make them more comprehensible. This diagram is perfectly correct, though to non-mathematicians it may not be that easy to interpret. See id:1824893 for an alternative explanation.

    Once again, the 4th dimension does not necessarily have to be time. Time is commonly labelled as the fourth simply because of the order in which dimensions were identifed, however they have no implicit sequence (in fact, it doesn't really make sense to think of dimensions as concrete things that can BE ordered).
