I have seen this happen on multiple saves where a piece of stone/material falls through a 1-pixel wide shaft for a decent legnth of time.

Interesting :D +1

Just heated up the entire thing until it melted. Its just PIPE. This guy is a phony.

I think the stone is moving slightly to the right which sets up a diagonal bounce changing the stones VECTOR making it seem to slow down because its x movement is constrained. look at this id:1868692 with persistant on.

Maybe Powder Toy is just limiting the falling speed of the stone to prevent glitch, such as warping through walls.

(sorry for triple post!) It's air velocity... somehow. I just turned pressure off but the effects persist. The air velocity is so minor it's undetectable. I'm going to make a minor mod to detect incredibly tiny air changes by amping up the air/pressure displays. This should be fun; I'll report back sometime tomorrow, probably.

It's not the stone rubbing hypothesis, sorry (it was a really good idea though!) I just tried turning off the air sim, it completely eliminates the Rubbing effect. (Side note: can we officially designate this the "Rubbing Effect"?)

This is actually really cool. This almost certainly shouldn't happen! I've got to take a look at the powder code when I can, I haven't read into that part of the codebase yet. This is definitely a simulation oddity...

Also, i just looked you up... most of your saves are 3 elements, honestly. Heck, your top voted save is literraly a pot of supercooled water. I am defensive. I understand if your saves are better than mine... and most of them are, but, not a lot of YOUR saves are more than three elements...
-
Its a concept/explanation. It is not supposed to be dynamic. 3 elements can also mean that this is very simplistic. There is no need for hate just because i made the point in the save clear and straight forward. I am sorry but I am very defensive against hate.
