    Surgebinders are the "magicians" of Roshar there are 10 different kinds of surges, each do different things

    And not all of them were soldiers. About 1/2 of the 10 orders fought, while the rest did scholarly stuff and research.

    Avi's party gets there first. They are confronted by a strange looking spren that grants them a boom, but also warns them that they will recieve a curse as well.
