  Gemstones are common in Roshar, but make for poor tools. The shiny bits I said you found were made of copper, but you have not invented fire yet.

  I train 50 troops and use quartz (the stuff i dug out of the mountain) to create weapons and tools. BTW I get some quartz every so often, so I replenish my supplies of quartz in a day or less.
