This is maybe a couple hundred years in the future. Sol should still look the same.

Also: Is this whole thing in the far future, far past, or present? I need to know how to make Sol look.

I made one that captures the glow around the core better, as well as adds higher contrast and visible stars (which may not be entirely realistic but look pretty)

I found that you can add brown by selecting a very light blue and then using subtract.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting the nebulae in this galaxy look right too. I have the same technique I used for my galaxy, but it doesn't look quite right. Adding magenta might make it look better, although I'm not sure how to make it's milky glow without remaking the entire thing.

Sure! Tomorrow... possibly later... school and daylight saving time make a horrible combination, I need to get my sleep :/

Could you do it? Also, could you try using subtract while green/cyan is selected to add nebulae? New_Powder said that he makes really pretty nebulae that way, but when I try it it looks awful.
