    And I expand to the north and turn that territory into a province. I open up a medical research center along with a hospital in my capital province. The research is run on donations from my generous citizens and hopefully because of it, my population growth, happiness and quality of life go up

    Oi, I'm introducing a new mechanic. If your country is shaped really thin and stretched out, there's a 50% chance of people autoexpanding to fill it in every turn. This does not affect how many times you can expand.
