    Or, you could configure the mining lasers to make a box around the asteroid, heat the beams to melt it, then use gravity to shape it in the way you want before cooling the beams to solidify it.

    We split it in 8 (if its 3d after all) and put the pieces in the external airlock

    You should just melt it down and use a hand GPMP tool to move it into a ball.
