    However, the fusion drives on the old ship are one of the few parts on the ship that are fully operational, due to them being designed to withstand plasma and fusion temperatures.

    Uh, guys, there's NO way you're going to be able to completely fix either ship. Your best bet is to dock the old ship to the front of the pirate ship, and use its fusion engines to push yourself to a space station and sell both wrecks to get enough money for a new ship.
