    It would probably be easier to go to a spaceport and buy some industrial asteroid mining equipment.

    You could use the shuttle's (docked in back) lasers to melt the asteroid, but you'll need a way to collect the molten materials.

    Well, you'll need a way to refine/extract the metals. I suggest going for the smaller metallic asteroid first.
