also I could've done a better job writing it '\_('-')_/`
Come to think of it, I didn't need to write this 20 page thesis statement when I didn't even disagree with you...
If, for example you could taste some food that tasted bad to you, but you can still say it sucked. It wouldn't make sense for everyone to say that they liked someone's mac 'n' cheese because they're not chefs. The same applies to FP, because if you see that someone's saves aren't good, it isn't always good to criticise them just for having a different opinion...
I was just making a point to how some people, who I will venture to say, mindlessly vote on saves will not be reluctant to give needless criticism to someone who, dare I say, are free thinkers. They mean to say "I'd like to see you do better" but they do not know how unnecessary it is. If someone sucks, or haven't even posted anything as of yet, they aren't prohibited from giving their opinion, ONLY when it disagrees with theirs, no less.
The fact is that this format is made so as to put certain saves onto the front page. This part of the formatting is based on popular opinion. My main point, though is that conventions are MEANT to be about sharing one opinion throughout. This game, on the other hand, is meant to be, to some degree, about diversity of opinion such that users are still allowed to downvote and comment contrary to the popular opinion of said save.
The way public opinion is handled in this game is formatted and statistically different from the fashion which a 'convention' grasps such. For example, it is practical to think that once people gave an upvote or a downvote, you may sometimes see them concisely explain why their opinion is the way it is. However, it is not common for us to see as many downvotes on FP as we do in the 'By Date' page of online saves.
This game is formatted in such a way that users are allowed to 'post' content which other users are allowed to view and review (such reviews are distinct to each user respectively). Reviewing is also simple; one can comment on the save, then give an "upvote" or a "downvote." The contrast becomes immediately clear once you begin to think about what you mean to say, which is that certain opinions do not belong in certain areas where public opinion is involved.
@JaystrikeX, It's not accurate to compare a game community with content formatting most similar to Reddit to a convention. Conventions are literal assemblies of people sharing at least one common interest which is also the topic of such.
