    Push the "D" key, and then it will show co-ordinates.

    what is the co ordinate system because i would like to start close to a forest area but near the plains as well?

    You select the co ordinates of your starting city, then say the co ordinates in chat. Then minecraft will draw the borders of your nation, and Boom! you're in!

    like i love games like empire earth and Dawn of man where you have to research place mines so you can build walls build forces to attack other empire
