    Split the republic into a union of states which is controlled by a small council made up of average people. Have a lead council member report to the government on their status. If a state is compromised, have them evacuate towards other states and avoid spreading infections. Have the science department begin developing self sustaining bunkers and make them ready for mass production.

    I'll take Nuclear's place as a Republic. For my first move, burn down all northern towns. Begin a state of emergency and a curfew. Create a department of health administration aswell as a policing system. Create a statue which states failure to follow laws in a state of emergency will lead to being shot on sight and considered a public menace. Have all trade be highly regulated through checkpoints and medical examiners.

    Will you have the existing walls torn down now that the threat is gone? The materials will be preserved so you can use the remaining foritifcation parts to build the western wall instead of chopping down more trees.
