@Plasmey_401k, Correct: we can like whichever saves we like. In the instance you see a save and like it, that's fine for the most part. However, I'd like to state this whole situation with more clarity, because I noticed that there i s a divide in our opinions, and that it kinda sounds like we're talking past each other for a reason.

Just as you say, TPT is a great place to learn things and grow as a creator, but it isn't only about that. TPT's been around for a while. It would be impossible to expect it to remain the same, eaither in terms of its purpose or of what its community values. Sometimes, we need to just let it shift.
-
I hold the same beliefs as you when you say that "there isn't a problem with that in most instances..." I personally hate memes and see no merit or humor in them, but if a sizeable portion of the community enjoys them, then I see no reason why they shouldn't recieve attention, no matter the quality (in my oppinion, very low). I don't have to see them, I make my choice to view whatever saves I want to.
-
Thanks for the response. I'd like to point out that everything here is entirely our own opinions; that doesn't invalidate anything. I'm pretty sure we're saying the same things, just in different ways. If I understand you right, you think that TPT is a place for learning and community and fun. I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.

Qweryntino: Don't worry. I comment on all the saves on the planet.
-
You're right about everything, TPT shouldn't be about "here's a cool thingy, now give points", it should be about inspiration and collaboration, like you said.
-
"disconnected from the people that give them votes": I'm guilty of it too. There are people like me who don't talk much, and rarely comment on saves.
-
Maybe it's not super different than today, but it is certainly no better than yesterday. That is, I'm aiming for progress and improving myself and others. That is all :)
-
What you see is a community of people finding a good balance between learning, participating and fun. The community would be bleaker than what it should be ideally if you take away any one of these factors. I remember a time of more energy for people who made stuff and people who wanted to not only support them, but to participate, too.

What you should take away from what I'm saying is that my problem isn't with doing what you like. My problem is with forgetting that the game isn't a giant meme page. It can actually be a great place to learn some really cool stuff. When you look at old saves that were made of computers and really detailed art, you don't just see people who are completely disconnected from the people that give them votes and ONLY do what they do for votes.
