On June 4, 1989 the Chinese government ordered military personnel to shoot protesters in Tiananmen Square, Beijing. It is estamated that over 5000 people died. This is a reminder to pay homage to those who died come the 31 anniversary of the massacre.

    N2H4 and DragonEggLol: I have to say this again: We are all biased. Like what The_Galaxy_Creator said, there is no truly reliable source. Chinese authorities cover up the story and say that not much happened, while the Western world exaggerates and makes it seem worse than it is. But above all, I think TPT is about fun, not arguing about politics.

    the APCs and armored helicopters that were sent in. There were even students that did want to retaliate, but their weapons were confiscated. The protests themselves were more or less peaceful. (2)

    Zepheruni: There were riots and arson similar to that, but those were months before the massacre itself. The protesters were peaceful leading up to and during the events, only blocking the military. Eventually, the military opened fire on the crowds indiscriminately. The students in the square were doing nothing to warrant (1)
