    I do not understand why you choose to focus only on a small subset of the actual number of victims. To say "they are not counted as part of the Holocaust" doesn't explain anything. Murder is murder, regardless of the reason or the identities of either victim or killer. I suggest that mourning a strictly-defined set of 'Holocaust victims' devalues the deaths of the other victims.

    nikolayplotnikov2: Civilian deaths of the Soviet Union are usually not counted in what is known as the Holocaust because many of them were due to the Soviet Union's aggression toward its own people. I am not denying that Germany committed horrific acts against the Soviet people but for the purposes of this save, they are not counted. This is the last thing I will say on that.

    The_Galaxy_Creator i am only talking about soviet citizens murdered, not military casualities. soviet union lost 27 million, only 11 million of them were military.

    This scene only counts the deaths of those killed in the Holocaust itself. This includes Jews, Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, gays, and disabled people. Those killed in the war itself are not considered in this scene. This would include military executions, bombing raids, and other massacres.

    In total, it's estimated that around 40 million civilians died during WW2, around half of them in Russia. The Jews were actually a minority of those who died. I'm Jewish, but I wouldn't claim the Holocaust as "our" tragedy. It was EVERYONE's tragedy. People emphasize the fact that Jews were targeted, but actually far more gentiles died.
