  Work on finding saltpeter and sulfur, saltpeter for food preserving and sulfur for fertilizer. Start a government funded alchemy science division, who basically mix different things together and see if they do anything useful. Anything useful should be put into production if it's good enough. Work on hygeine because sickness is bad and hard to cure. Find out what things cause the sickness, like waste or dirty hands, and find out how to make the sickness go off of them.   Arrest the cult leaders and any who try to damage the temples and other such things. This is illegal and must be stopped. Defy them and advance our technology, they may have a freedom to speak, but we don't have to listen. Experiment with basic genetics, such as using the best fruit to try to make more best fruit, by planting them in seperate areas from the less good ones. Any good fruit from the less good ones will be planted in good fruit zone.

  use the vally as a staging post to make fortified mines for iron, begin fermenting rodent and bovine manure as fertilizer to increas yield, look for lodestone/magnetite for compasses and magnets, more math reaserch,begin making sulfuric acid(sulfur+saltpeter+steam->condense),reaserch grain windmills,train more elite troops, up to 1/5 can be acting as mercenaries at one time(if not training,warring,or monster hunting)

  continue work on the ballista,refine greek fire(quicklime,oil,sulfur,saltpeter,and calcium phosphide(boiling bones in urine)),make pottery grenades and early paper rockets(or just gunpowder),send more troops(light, ranged, chariot, and rodent) to the ruins to protect the villagers, get the engineers to start building traps to catch the animals,try to refine the poison used on my weapons,
