There are too many in-universe reasons to conclude them in one word.

In-universe, the reason why they're fighting is one of the things I can't really name. In reality, hares are perfect enemies for foxes, as foxes are predators and hares are prey. The initial concept of the whole comic came from an idea of a very bizzare game.

The good guys, or gals, to be precise, are foxes, but honestly, I don't think there is such a division at all. None of sides is good or bad - one has my sympathy and other has not.

As foxes are my absolute favourite type of anthros, sorry, hares have no chance to be good or have any advantages. In future issues, I will concentrate on personal drama.
