Apparently Ukraine was able to push back pretty hard today. If Russia's gonna sustain anything, they'll need to bring in more forces... and that probably means another escalation of some kind.

And even with full political and military control, there's still the matter of a new government without any real support from the people. Unless Russia indefinitely and ruthlessly occupies the entirety of Ukraine, their puppet government will immediately be overthrown by riots and militias, especially since pretty much the entire population is armed at this point.

Both of you are right though, this map shows areas of "full" control, and there are battles elsewhere (especially where the thin lines go). Asserting permanent domanance over the population is a separate process. They've already started, for example by replacing the mayor of Melitopol, they wouldn't be able to do that without full control.

Not necessarily "full" control. Establishing total control over a area that is opposed to you is a difficult, long and convoluted process that Russia can not undertake currently

@jacob1 map with marked territories where battles are going is more dynamic and it cover bigger territories, here we can see territories under full control only.

When mods decided to pin this save, I expected faster movement .. it's been stalled for a while now.

It has been rolled back. I did not delete all of it, but take this as a sign you should move on.
