If you think what's happening in the Ukraine right now is bad, things will get much worse in Russia if the people try to overthrow Putin. The only people who have the power to get rid of Putin without causing enormous bloodshed are the Russian oligarchs, that's why the sanctions are targeting their assets and companies.
