    Updated the save with a CRAY-based ray to prove the concept. Works exactly the same, but looks much more pale.

    cray has a mode that makes it go out till it hits a particle so yes it woud work

    CRAY isn't very useful in a tractor beam, if you're pushing. If you fill the space with particles, the piston won't be able to push anything if it's not pushing into void.
