Thats to say, for instance, an ALU (Arithmetic and Logic Unit) with store it's output onto a Register, then in the next cycle, will read from that Register and use its data to perform an operation with another set of data.
Really it's more of a Register. ROM (Read Only Memory) is something that is typically programmed once and read multiple times. Whereas RAM (Random Access Memory) is written to and read from constantly. A Register on the other hand is something that holds a small amount (1 Byte) of data briefly.
