Guide to 'necroposting'

It has recently come to my attention that many forum users will call 'NECRO' on random threads which have been commented on recently. It very much annoys me.
A 'necropost' is an action on internet forums in which a user posts in an old thread. However, it is not a necro if the comment actually has use.
    For example:

    'That would be cool.'

The comment is useless. Therefore it is a necro.

'What if the moving solids were coded this way: *blahblahblah*'

This comment is not a necro, as it actually helps and progresses the thread.

Personally, it is very annoying when a user cries 'NECRO!!!OMG BAN HIM LOLZY U SEXY BEAST!' or something like that (the necro part, not the 'sexy beast' part.) It is not necro if the comment is actually useful.

Please read and understand this explanation. You have no idea how irritating it is when someone offers a useful comment and is bombarded with 'Necro!'. It is unfair and untrue.

In conclusion, note that I am not a moderator, rather a worried and frustrated user. Thankyou.

Yes, it revives a dead thread, but it is not regarded as a necropost as long as it is useful.

Its all in the rules. It doesn't necessarily need to be helpful... it is mainly okay if it is a real issue that is on topic.
