Poll: Save Rights and Management

I think people should be able to copy parts of saves as long as the original owner gives them permission, unless it's something electronic that's not really unique to that save, then anyone should be able to use it, or at least the concept behind it, without needed permission.

What if the system didn't directly intervene. Sort of a check by template basis. What would you think about rights managment now?

Can I bring everyone back to reality and have everyone realise that anything on TPT is created in the name of fun and creativity? This isn't some patenting office, we don't issue out licenses as to who can use what. Obviously our honor based system expired a while ago, with the loss of our more loyal members. However, this is still only a game, and if some little kid copies your stuff, who cares? Sure, it can be annoying, and every once in a while I become annoyed with oblivious users, but they are only that, oblivious to the rules many of them have never seen. After playing for a long time, and more so on the actual game than on the forums, I can carefully deduce that copying is only seriously abused with younger kids. The only enforcement to this would be to make them recite a list of the rules in a multiple choice questionnaire to fully ensure they know the rules inside and out. This of course is fanatical, and at that, nothing more can really be done to stop kids from being immature. Its part of growing up for many of these users, and the truth of the matter is, is that you cannot under any circumstance expect kids to act older than they really are on a website and game called powder toy. Do what you want about this from any legal standpoint, but the more radical of a system you create, the more restrictions, and the more fallout from the situation there will be. I want to compare it to all the legal restrictions in my state's school board's. To even go outside for a small classroom experiment we have to sign a release form. Onto to go outside, as we do after school hours everyday. It is always one ignorant person who cries legal-injustification when they have no legal leverage over the person who which they wish to persecute for a loss on their part, and the group in charge of the place that had the incident take place on their premise has no choice but to enforce a waiver or consent form for the next time soemthing happens, where the person with a loss has no way of persecuting the other party who is at fault. The same goes with this game, and the propieters thereof. You may eventually be required by users to make a consent for this, but it is mostly uneccessary in most cases. Don't restrict others because one person suffers a loss that could have been prevented by the one at loss. You may think there are no preventative measures against stealing, but really, if its that good that you don't want it stolen, don't post it in the first place.

Oh and ban all who do wrong. :D

If it was possible? I probably wouldn't be a fan of it. There isn't much that's secret in this game, and locking content only prevents people the easiest route to learning for themselves.

I dont really think there is a good way to prevent people from copying things they shouldn't without messing up other stuff.

I need a few answers to these questions also:

Would it be fair to everyone if the save/project owner only allowed those who can return something to use the content? Or would it just be a greedy way of managing?

Let's take out intervention. What if there was a third party list that will just let people check upon it on a questionable basis? Would it be complicated or just an added tool for people looking out?

When does one ever become expected to contribute to the original save, ever?

This will do reasonably nothing. Its like (Exactly like.) checking off on a Terms of Service agreement. No one (Except me) ever reads them.

Your best bet is to invest time into a type of automated system that can be used to disable the Copy
Feature in a given save if wanted by the creator of that save.
