Once again, just gotta say good work on this.

Anyway I had some thoughts.... As good as this thing is, it still takes an incredible amount of space and time to render multiple colors on a single layer. Would it make any sense to create a new ROM that has color and x-coordinate encoded in the same pixel? At what point would this become... pointless...

it would not help.  the color and pixel are already "read" at the same time.  the whole cycle is only one spark pulse(8 frames).  if it is slow just delete the programming guides to increase the frame rate(fps).

Yes, the color is read, what I meant was encoding multiple colors onto the same row in the same row of memory. It takes an enormous amount of space to encode multiple colors currently. It would be awesome if this could be adapted to have a more compressed rom. (Not that this thing isn't fantastic as-is)

Just recently I have begun to dabble in FILT memory/logic, and have discovered that you and G-LinuxorU seem to have a knowledge of the technology. Anyway we should totally build a ROM that can encode/decode more colors, I also might need help comprehending how encoding stuff using FILT works lol :3

even if you encode the way you are talking about. the printer is only capable of printing one color or element at a time.  the printer would need to be redesigned as well.  if you want to try go for it.  I will answer any questions I can or refer you to someone I think can help if I do not know.
