This seems pretty interesting and promising! I'm a new member, but while browsing the forums, I've noticed you've made a considerable amount of science mods (kudos for that!). I wanted to try them, but sadly none of them worked for me, so I've finally decided to compile the source for this one myself.
I'm rather sceptical about the possibility of accomplishing even a rough concept of organic chemistry in Powder Toy's engine, but I hope I'll be proven wrong.
Best of luck!
PS. Testing the pre-releases sounds like a nice job. I'll drop by a contact request on Skype, if that's fine with you.
Thanks everyone
Well, 1.1 has a way better system of doing that, you can use the prop tool to set carbon, hydrogen, chlorine position, bond position and alcohol position, as well as much better state transitions, hud data, and so on. HCBN, PRFN, and OIL are put back in the menus in 1.1 and HXDE (hydroxide) is added to make alcohols. I will put this all in the changelog with more info as well so you can figure out how to make things like 13-chloro-32-tetracontyn-5-ol wax and all sorts of other things. Also, I like to take time to perfect something or at least get it working in a relatively stable state before releasing, but at least I don't take as long as the official :p And this update is small compared to everything I plan to add to the mod, just wait...
EDIT: Also, if I have time, benzyl and phenyl compounds might be included in 1.1
Well, I abandoned my last one because I got too obssessed with watching breaking bad, and the other ones just wouldn't work for people. Also, your idea is technically possible but since you can't change the weight of each particle individually, it would have to be done by altering the particle's vy while touching another particle at 0K.
That reminds me of a joke: A scientist was frozen to -273.15 degrees Centigrade, but he is 0K now.
Edit: Version 1.1 is released!
Wow. This is so incredibly detailed, I had a Wikipedia page open in the background so I could look up all the hydrocarbons. :P Anyway, amazing job once again firefreak. Can't wait for all the sub-atomics to come out.
Lol, thank you. Subatomic will be done soon enough, I am really looking forward to that
