     I don't really want to put in the time to learn lua and rewrite the mod with that framework. I'll probably leave this mod as it is and develop a standalone circuit simulator

    Feature request: Have an element highlight all its connections when hovered over. It's annoying when you're building small circuits and you have no idea what connects to what.

     Yep, that's definitely an annoying problem. I have a "debugger" tool in the current unreleased version that highlights the connection wires, but it doesn't work 100% correctly. I think highlighting the connected components like you suggested would work better
