I would suppose it would be to display your saves on the forum professionally, e.g.

Hey, check out my saves here:

Excuse my language, but what this thread is basically saying is

    DON'T BE A VOTE WHORE

if i see a reminder for voting i simply down vote on the save regardless of whatever might be in the save. i don't like people who fish for votes like that it's dumb. you work hard on ur saves and earn the votes you don't ask for them. get what i mean? so. yea.

I don't, I kinda think that's pointless. If I do like it I vote up regardless. Or, if I'm in that sort of mood,  just don't vote. I then remind them that asking for votes is against the rules. But voting down for it I think is a bit.... Meh....

I often do the same for everything, giving people a chance to sort whatever they are doing before I report it myself. In my opinion it's wrong to vote down for something that could be sorted quickly and easily another way. It's not like voting down is going to sort it is it? It'll probably encourage the maker to ask for a vote up.

I am quite annoyed by the fact that people treat "reminding of votes" as such a serious issue. The general opinion about votes seems like "Use them, but never talk about them".

For one, the save community will feel more like a moderator-driven society rather than a community-driven one. Yes, the "upvote this if you like" is too much, but on the other hand, removing every save with a green caret (accidentally or intentionally put in) is too strong a regulation.

I can see where it might seem like overkill, but you wouldn't believe how many saves in the past reached several hundred votes almost -just- because of things asking for votes. People putting serial signs saying what they'd do once a certain number of votes reached, light-up vote carets, view counters, all gave people an absurd advantage with votes that was difficult to ignore.

This basically means, that for people to compete, they -have- to follow along and do the same. And then -everything- has these in it.

I understand, but most likely there needs to be a more defined line between what is acceptable and what isn't. Simply banning every form usually works, but sometimes it annoys the masses. Also, reminding people to express their opinion should be a tad bit more tolerated as most (including myself) tend to lurk past most of the awesome saves, not even minding to spare a vote (down / up)
