    Another suggestion: HCl should not dissolve hydrocarbons, as it is not strong enough to protonate them. It can however form hydrochloride salts with certain organic molecules as well as molecules like amines.

    Flags is volatile and not saved.

     I think I understand what you're saying but still not sure. I'm using flags to store the location of the hydroxyl group on an alcohol, you're saying it's not saved in stamps or saves?
