Saturated sponge at high temp turns into plasma. Where did the water go?

Not really, the spng has a life which gives it the water particles and dark color so the high temp made it burn and the life didn't matter so it is a bug. But these kinds of things should be expected in a universe where matter can be created and destroyed, right? -
