    Hmm... Looks to me like the shape and design of the metl does nothing. Most of the decompressing results from the water equalization allowing a compressed deut particle to enter a chamber only when the chamber has let out enough decompressed deut to create an air particle. Essentially, all this does is restrict how many deut particles can decompress at a time.
