Using some borg technology and federation technology, starfleet have created an exploration probe for colonising other planets.

A starfleet probe is a torpedo filled with scanners to gain information. A borg probe is a larger version, but essentually the same... Sorry, had to point all that out... and yeah i know way to much about star trek, but i mean it's not a bad idea.

Also if the federation had the technology to make a ship of that size capable of travelling at warp 10, why wouldn't they just have a stock standard starship thats refitted to hit that velocity... Finally, why did you call it a probe, probes are things that go searching for information...

Ima just pick on this... "Travel at warp 10", you dont travel at warp 10, because when you are at warp 10 you are doing infinite velocity so you are everywhere and you are nowhere... And by the way, the borg don't have the technology to reach warp 10. Yes their Transwarp drives allow them to go very fast but they cant reach warp 10...
