  Yes, the usual photon laser designs won't work well, however there are alternative methods for proton laser designs :) Such as, for example, to heat the protons, you can use life elements and *place it directly on where the protons pass through*. Since protons pass through nearly all elements, this will heat up the protons while allowing it to pass through; this is not how photon lasers work. The ways to isolate and focus protons also differ with photons, this makes conventional photon laser designs don't work well with proton lasers C:
