ok so if you are talking about massive compression i give you guys an idea for your ships: black hole storage, if you can mine neutron stars then try to make black holes to store matter and when you need descompress the black hole another idea: try using the gravity or magnetism of neutron stars to disintegrate atoms and use their electrons for energy

You can modify it by crashing objects into it, or by putting things into a close orbit with it. The core (also the bit around the core) is where most of the neutronium can be obtained, but it is actually easier to take the entire star, mainly because you don't need to punch through the surface. But this is only the quickest way, neutronium can also be 'grown' by using black holes, it can be produced in factories, but only in small amounts, there are also other ways to mine it from neutron stars.

Hmmmm, But how do you modiy the star, by pushing something to crash with it in the seperate direction...I think the magnetic field crushes everything near it, and don't forget there's the gravity that makes the star the dences thing in the universe (except a black hole) so idk how you would break it apart...What part of it do you mine again? If it's the core, Neutron stars have liquid cores in theory, but if you say so sure :I interesting system...

The stars are usually modified before mining to have reduced spin and are destabilised until the magnetic field is weak enough for the ships to survive. Also, it is much easier to do because the systems on the ship aren't very complicated or advanced compared to other ships so can easily be modified to have resistance to those effects.

Gravity wells might help but you can't avoid the magnetism, think of it this way, the magnetism is strong enough to weaken the Eaths magnetic field from 6000 LY, when a crack the size scaled with mm is created...so good luck with that. Also, that's strong enought to pull the ship apart if it came NEAR the star.
