A simulation of Maxwell's Demon, a thought experiment created by James Clerk Maxwell which demonstrates the ability of a hypothetical finite being (the demon) capable of violating The Second Law of Thermodynamics which has been proven today to not do so.

    @spoogda @sentinal-5: in essence, all the particles with a higher velocity will be on the left, and all the particles with a slower velocity will be on the right, regardless of temperature -> I saw the opposite thing happen O_o

    Nice lesson from physics, I like it :D +1 -> *Entropy is caused by deleting information* That is IMPOSSIBLE in the Universe, noone can CREATE or DELETE information from the Universe, so are you saying you think Entropy doesn't exist, if you are not, then please reconsider your comment...

    Entropy is not increased by gaining information or doing logical processes, but soley in deleting information (in computers anyway). That is the reason that maxwell's demon wouldn't work- without infinite memory, he'd had to delete the previous atom's information to make room for the next. That would increase entropy, thus not violating the 2nd law.

    The main thing to understand about the laws of thermodynamics is if you introduce energy into the system, this is possible, because to get the energy you must increase entropy (burning coal for example). TPT does not require this, and also in TPT btry provides infinite energy.

    by doing so it violates the second law of thermodynamics, which states states that in a natural thermodynamic process, there is an increase in the sum of the entropies of the participating systems
