Also, magnesium burns incredibly quickly, not forever. Magnesium was not a well chosen name.

TSspazz: MgO is not flammable at all, because it has already been oxidised, which is what combustion is. If MgO was combustible, then a sample of magnesium would burn forever. And anyway, Mg+H2O->MgO+H2 doesn't mean that the hydrogen should spontaneously combust. And MgO is not reactive as it is hard to separate magnesium bonds.
