The first of many, the matrioshka brain directs the entire energy output of a star into a supercomputer inadequately described as enormous. The processing power of this device is such that it can simulate entire universes.

You aren't understanding, Masterfox. The brain would simulate everything in the universe, including itself, but the simulated brain would not be trying to simulate a universe. That would be a waste of time and processing power. Why simulate yourself simulating yourself?

Simulating a simple Version of itself would not help- each bit could be responsible for a new galaxy!
-
Very fun to destroy- it's fun to watch as the machine flails trying to control everything when in reality, its buffers are collapsing into more stellar matter.

It's so tempting to make an STO reference now. :P
-
so it s a dyson sphere computer?
-
you should make this a reactor for some mega ship that could 1v2 an eclipse
-
Besides, even a complex representation of itself would not be trying to simulate what the actual brain would be simulating.
-
Just saying, Death, simulating the universe it's in would be possible. It would simply make a simple representation of itself in the simulation, leaving plenty of proscessing power for the rest of the universe.

Dang lag made me comment twice.

Guys, you DO know that you can't divide anything by zero. The result is what's called an undefined number. 0 divided by something gives 0. Also, infinite isn't a number or quantity.
