When the EXOT is in contact with the VIBR, it acts like Virus and turn the VIBR into EXOT. And if you convert that EXOT into VIBR, it makes a weird effect.

EXOT also has a tmp2 value, though you can't see it. I think it determines how close it is to exploding from ELEC bombardment. But VIBR instead uses tmp2 to determine if it has been affected by CFLM - contact with CFLM sets tmp2 to some specified value. ANY non-zero value will be read as non-exploding, blue VIBR. When its life reaches 0, tmp2 is reset to the default value

When you !set type, other properties of the element are unaffected. EXOT uses life to determine which state it is in (normal or grey/black). When it becomes VIBR, it still has life - but VIBR uses life as the countdown to explosion.
