Wouldn't the balloons have to be larger relative to the cabins than on Earth to float in a thinner atmosphere?

Mars already has an atmosphere, but it is really thin. I suppose that it is thicker now because Earth dumped a bunch of ammonia-rich asteroids on it to kick-start the greenhouse effect.
