This is kind of freaky, not what one would expect. I suppose it's a feature, but bugs me :p

    Yup a feature. When you set life 50 (saturated) to sponge before unpausing it does not change the water type. Water type changes because of the mechanic which leaves empty space when water particle is absorbed. When sponge gets saturated it releases some water. But because sponge has no memory of water type it releases default WATR which contaminates DSTW.
