Continuously detonating nuclear weapons behind a ship to produce thrust. Yes. And it was considered as a genuine, even realistic, method of producing thrust to go interstellar.

    I like the mechanism here, it's a lot more complex than is really necessary but pretty impressive and well-built. And the Orion system might still be the best option we have for long-distance spce travel within a reasonable timescale. Still horribly slow for interstellar flight, but if we wanted to transport humans to, say, a moon of Saturn or Jupiter this might be the way to do it.
