"Red Dwarf" is a brand name. It got it's name from the small sun reactor near the middle of the ship. It is only meant for short trips, and is widely considered a civilian transport and cargo. However, the military has used it before as a scout class.

    red dwarf is also an epic comedy series from the late 80s wih is set on a MASSIVE mining ship
