It would have been the largest super-heavy tank if it was constructed and not cancelled. Landkreuzer was a german tank project that started 1942.

dont worry. the war required quantity over quality, instead of testing out landkruezers the army developed Ferdinands and resulted in a huge embarrasement to them as it underperformed.

Look for the book "Schwere Panzerprojekte", it contains the actual line drawings of the Ratte and a few photos of the mockups. Other than that, all drawings online usually have the hull 128mm, turrets on the engine deck, and flakierling turrets, all of which are wrong.

I understand why they did it but isnt that why they added the AAA's?

obviously it was also cancelled because of the war ending but yeah you are right. tactical air had an abysmal record at tank killing but i doubt they would have missed this

it's armor may have been twice as thick as the maus but the tank's size makes it difficult to hide, difficult to manouveour, transport, refuel and even difficult to repair. its only Pro is that it would have been a remarkable seige and defence weapon. and the fact its design included a Flak 38, a naval class turret composed of two barrels, 2 AAA's and 2 Maus turrets at the back wouldve made this tank a flag-ship if it had good support
