Had a couple of fires start when SPNG batteries got too low, so I designed a circuit-breaker thingy that stops discharge when SPNG life approaches a dangerous level. Reset button (PSCN pixel) pops out; spark it after re-charging.

"better" is very relative. My batteries are rechargeable, and don't blow up half a city if they encounter a stray proton. As for capacity, my layered spng version is not too shabby ;) ATM I am re-designing to produce a 1:1 I-O battery using no DTEC for greater realism.
